MY FAMILY TRADITION

Today, I thought I would share with you all about my family tradition that we have been doing since I was born. Back in 2004, my Grandma wanted to take photos with all of her grandchildren. Back when we started doing this my mom and aunt would book a studio session, either at a local mall or somewhere that allowed us to do a studio session. One thing never changed though, OUR OUTFITS! My mom and aunt were always wanting my cousins and I to wear matching outfits when doing these types of photo sessions. Every 3 to 4 years from then on my grandma, my two cousins, and I would get together to do our traditional grandma and grandsons photoshoot. For the past 2 sessions, we have hired the amazing Jaime Williams Photography to capture our amazing tradition. I personally wanted to share this story with you all because I am a firm believer in traditions especially with families and more.

Here are some suggestions for new traditions that you can share with everyone!

Family Portraits

Every family of all sizes deserve a chance to share their amazing family tree with everyone. It is always a great idea to do this either every year or every other year. Some suggestions that you can do with these types of photo sessions are doing themed outfits, choosing a location, getting multiple generations involved, and more.

These are also great for cute family decorations in your home to showcase that amazing family of yours!

Anniversary Photos

This is a great idea for married or long-term couples that want to have their relationships captured. Do a photo session every year and what you could do with those photos is either make a relationship jar with every year you have been together for in it. That way you can look back at the amazing memories and moments you have captured together!

Holiday Photos

Sometimes the holidays can get a little hectic, but doing holiday photos are a great way to bring the family together. Also, it is always fun to plan out your annual holiday cards to be sent out.

I always love to receive holiday cards because of three things. First, I get to see my amazing family and how they created their holiday cards. Second, I get inspiration for next year to see what I want to do with my holiday cards. Finally, as a photographer, I occasionally get clients holiday cards which always makes my holidays so special to me.

Baby Growth Photos

You can do this however you want. Babies grow up so quickly and don't you want to have those photos to look back on? You could do this either every month or every 3 months. Then, what I suggest as a cute little idea is to do a growth album book and make it a conversation piece in your home or for your children to look back on to have for years to come.

Annual Reunion Photos

Reunions are always fun especially with people from your family or friends that you have not seen in a while. Most families or friends get together every year to spend time with one another, but have you ever thought about having that special event photographed? This is always a great idea to have photographed because you get to have everyone from multiple generations of family to come together or just have the besties that have been there for you to be captured and shared.
